Founded in 1875, the town of Haddonfield, NJ, is probably best known for being the birthplace of writer Debra Hill. “Why?” you ask. Well, because she wrote its namesake into the legendary horror franchise “Halloween.” You know, where Michael Myers lives. (Although, in the films, they moved Haddonfield to Illinois.)
And while you won’t necessarily find any masked menaces behind any bushes or hidden in any of the bedrooms here, you will find stunning homes that date back over a century. If you haven’t been, we suggest a drive through town and stopping at some of the fantastic shops in the Downtown area.
Surely with any home that has been alive that long, concerns will arise over time. Specifically regarding the build and integrity of the original foundation walls and floors.
So, in July 2012, the owner of this specific 125-year-old home in Historic Haddonfield gave South Jersey Waterproofing a call because of some of those foundational issues. They noticed that water was intruding their brick basement foundation walls, especially during heavy rains. Thusly, they wanted to prevent further intrusion from damaging their lovely property.
To help keep their home safe and free from water, we performed a few services:
- Installed a new basement drain system with a sump pump
- Dampproofed the foundation wall and added a white antimicrobial sealant
- Painted two coats of grey epoxy-based floor paint to keep moisture out
Sounds like a lot of work, right? It was. But most folks don’t realize that even with a scope of work like this – and having to pay extra special attention to the historic nature of this building – we were done in TWO DAYS! That’s right. Two days and our team were in and out, and this basement was dry and clean and boogeyman free!
